Just imagine

When I turned 18 and just graduated high school, my diploma said I knew something, but it didn't say I knew life skills.
I didn't know anything about car insurance, or that credit cards had to be paid off every month, or how to handle leasing contracts that are like ten to thirty pages long.
My cooking skills were shaky, and I had never really done my own grocery shopping. I was pretty clueless about the world.
The young adults we help are suddenly thrown into an adult world where they have to deal with stuff they've never faced before. No transportation, no money, no job, no housing, and food insecurity.
At 18, young adults often get a credit card and go on a shopping spree. We've seen young people come to us with all their stuff in a garbage bag. MFHG has helped them get essentials like socks, underwear, toothbrushes, toothpaste, regular clothes, and more.
They max out their credit card and then can't make the payments, which wrecks their credit scores, and sometimes they can't get out of debt.
They end up in a tougher spot than before, sometimes feeling hopeless. They don't have any job skills, so their job hunt is pretty limited. Furthering their education isn't really on their radar, and life just keeps moving, keeping them stuck in a cycle of poverty and need.
Here at My Father's House Greensboro, what we really need right now is housing.
If you're reading this, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. If you or someone you know can help us find a house, we'd love to hear from you. We're also eyeing a piece of land and could use some financial support.
It might sound silly to you, but if you've got the means and can afford to buy the land, go for it.
God knows what's in your heart and will bless you beyond what you can imagine.
